Cost of Living

Cost of Living - Movie
NEW FEATURE FILM RELEASE
We are very excited to announce that as of Sept. 1st 2008, we have completed the production process of my first Feature Film. GRN is co-producing a full-length Feature Film titled “Cost of Living”. It is a Comedy and is scheduled to release in November to roughly 1000 theaters across North America.

"The Cost of Living," a hilarious new comedy from writer/producer Jeff Madsen, is filming in Everett, WA and various locations throughout Snohomish County on August 11th through 30th. The story: When an elderly couple runs into some financial troubles, and their only way out is death or living on the streets, George (Brett Hunt) plots a clever life insurance scam behind his wife’s (CC Perkinson) back… one that ensures their son will never have to work again, and one that will surely solve the couple’s problems, permanently. George hires a hitman (Azmyth Kaminsky) to target himself and his wife and make it look like and accident. However, what he doesn’t know might not kill him. Brett [the hitman] is still very new at the job, and really isn’t very good at killing people yet, often failing quite miserably and somehow hurting himself during his many attempts. As this wacky comedy of errors ensues, will Brett ever manage to finish the job? Or will George’s clever scam be discovered? The film co-stars Ashley Hoyle and features the talents of Chuck Williams, Mark Valinsky, Mike Ricker and Bryan Gallinger. The film is produced by Jeff Madsen Productions and directed by Veronica Craven.

The cast and crew on this project are incredible. We are all very fortunate to have such a well rounded, team-oriented, no egos, fun and synergetic team. The talent both onscreen and behind the scenes is overwhelming. In some cases a big A-list actor (Tom Cruise or Jim Carrey) can make a movie but in other cases (take American Pie for example), a movie can make an actors career. This is one of those films that will launch amazing new talent to Hollywood. Jeff Madsen (writer/producer) has a significant local production company and has been working on large-scale projects throughout the greater Puget Sound for over 25years. Veronica Craven (director) is a well-established write/producer/director. She has brilliant vision and connects with the cast so well that scenes come naturally and smooth. Azmyth Kaminsky (principal actor from Snohomish) is a new, up-and-coming actor but he is hilarious and extremely gifted. Ashley (supporting actress from Olympia) is also a new, up-and-coming actress but is very talented. Brett Hunt (lead actor and co-producer from Renton) is on his way to being a prominent name in the Entertainment Biz. He is a close friend of mine, business partner on other projects and I have watched his career explode over the last year. Mike Ricker (Actor and local DJ for KISW 99.9fm, “Radio and Records Radio Personality of the Year 2008” nominee) has a featured part in the film. One of the co-stars is CC Perkinson whom is a brilliant actress/producer/tv personality from LA. We were also fortunate to have powerful appearances by some very experienced and successful talent from LA including Mark Valinsky and Chuck Williams.

Invisible Children

Invisible Children
DOCUMENTARY
It all started with a documentary and grew into a worldwide non-profit movement of compassionate individuals dedicated to transforming apathy into activism. Their media creates an opportunity for people to become part of a grassroots movement that intelligently responds to what’s happening in the world. Their work extends beyond our borders in war-affected regions, where they focus on long-term development projects like education and innovative economic opportunities for individuals and communities. Their work is primarily centered on the conflict-ridden regions of Uganda, but is also growing to affect several similar areas throughout the world.

In the spring of 2003, three young filmmakers traveled to Africa in search of a story. What started out as a filmmaking adventure transformed into much more when these boys from Southern California discovered a tragedy that disgusted and inspired them, a tragedy where children are both the weapons and the victims.

After returning to the States, they created the documentary "Invisible Children: Rough Cut," a film that exposes the tragic realities of northern Uganda's night commuters and child soldiers.

The film was originally shown to friends and family, but has now been seen by millions of people. The overwhelming response has been, "How can I help?" To answer this question, the non-profit Invisible Children, Inc. was created, giving compassionate individuals an effective way to respond to the situation.

Who We Are

We are storytellers. We are visionaries, humanitarians, artists, and entrepreneurs. We are individuals apart of a generation eager for change and willing to pursue it.

As a non-profit we work to transform apathy into activism. By documenting the lives of those living in regions of conflict and injustice, we hope to educate and inspire individuals in the Western world to use their unique voice for change. Our media creates an opportunity for people to become part of a grassroots movement that intelligently responds to what’s happening in the world.

But our work extends beyond our borders. In war-affected regions we focus on long-term development, working directly with individuals and institutions that are eager to realize their full potential. Through education and innovative economic opportunities, we partner with affected communities and strive to improve the quality of life for individuals living in conflict and post-conflict regions.

How We Make a Difference

Our approach to humanitarian work is founded in the strength and intelligence of the Ugandan community. We learned early on it was not only important but also essential to heed the wisdom of people that had not only lived in the war, but were surviving it. People who would know better than anyone what the greatest needs were and the best ways to meet them. What we came to find is that while there have been many efforts to address the issues that stem from living and fighting in such a long-lasting war, the people of Uganda are asking for a future beyond the conflict.

Their pleas have become our development strategy.

All of our programming is a partnership between those of us at Invisible Children and those in the Ugandan community. We focus on long-term goals that enable children to take responsibility for their future and the future of their country. Our programs are carefully researched and developed initiatives that address the need for quality education, mentorship, the redevelopment of schools, resettlement from the camps, and financial stability.
